--PowerDsine’s Power over LAN™ 6000 Series of Midspans Now Available to Government via Comstor’s GSA Schedule--

Farmingdale and Tarrytown, NY – August 12, 2003 - PowerDsine, the leading provider of Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, and Westcon Group, Inc., a global channel provider of networking technology, today announced that PowerDsine’s Power over Ethernet (PoE) midspan solutions have been added to Comstor’s General Services Administration (GSA) dealer program as part of Westcon Group’s Federal Edge offering.

All GSA-eligible ordering activities will be able to purchase PoE-enabled midspans more conveniently via a single GSA Schedule. Comstor's GSA Schedule is an Agent Schedule, which permits Comstor to authorize GSA dealers and teaming partners to represent the Schedule to government agencies. Comstor, one of the top 20 GSA Schedule 70 holders, offers its GSA authorized dealer schedule program to resellers of all sizes. Comstor also manages the GSA schedule enabling resellers to focus on their core disciplines.

"Now that we are part of Westcon Group’s GSA agent program, we look forward to offering our cost-saving Power over Ethernet solutions to federal agencies. In today's economic environment, organizations of every size, including those at the federal government level, are looking for ways to reduce their costs and improve the utilization of their existing network investment,” said Ronen Heldman, VP Marketing at PowerDsine. “Our solutions have been proven to save organizations considerable time and money by feeding power to LAN-connected devices, such as IP phones and wireless LAN access points, using existing Ethernet cabling."

PowerDsine will work closely with Westcon Group to create awareness of the benefits of Power over Ethernet. The main targets will be federal agencies active in the IP telephony, wireless LAN and IP surveillance markets, which are the market sectors where Power over Ethernet technology offers a compelling proposition.

The major advantages of PowerDsine’s technology is its ability to reduce installation costs by as much as 50 percent by removing the need for separate electrical wiring and power outlets for IP phones, network video cameras or wireless LAN access points. Another major attraction, particularly for IP telephony and surveillance camera users, is the ability to offer continuous operation even in the event of a power failure by delivering battery-backed-up uninterrupted power via the Ethernet LAN.

Bill McFadden, vice president of marketing, Westcon Group North America, Inc., stated: “We are delighted to be offering PowerDsine’s products through our GSA Schedule. Our GSA dealer program allows us to extend greater value to resellers and vendors alike. By handling all the necessary paperwork and administration on behalf of the vendor, we are able to provide value added, hassle-free access to the government marketplace, while helping them gain access to the lucrative government marketplace.”

The main products to be promoted through the GSA schedule will be the PowerDsine Power over LAN™ 6000 series of midspan devices available in 1, 6, 12 and 24 port models that upgrade existing Ethernet switches to become Power over Ethernet enabled without the need to invest in replacing the entire switch. All PowerDsine products are compliant with the IEEE 802.3af standard for powered Ethernet which was recently approved on June 12, 2003.
